What do I need to run JVComm32?
A
receiver or transceiver:
If you require HF-FAX weather charts you will need a good quality shortwave SSB receiver
If you want to receive low earth orbiters you will need 137 MHz receiving equipment
If you want to receive geostationary satellites (SDUS transmissions only) you will need 1.7 GHz receiving equipment
If you want to receive and transmit SSTV you will need an appropriate HAM band transceiver
A
connection between your receiver and your soundcard’s line-in:
Here, interface means a kind of modulator/demodulator
that connects your computer to your receiver/transmitter. It transforms
the audio data from the receiver into digital data that the computer can
read. On the other hand, the interface transforms the digital data that
the computer delivers into an audio signal that can be fed to your transmitter. JVComm32 runs with standard 16 bit sound cards and the PTC-II
DSP multimode PACTOR-Controller by SCS and its successors.
JVComm32 does also run with the Bluetooth version of the PTC-II. When
you are using this version, the PTC-II SERBaud parameter must be set to
115200, and the data rate to 11520.There are some more interfaces
that you can use for JVComm32, e.g. the EasyDSP
interface by Ulrich Bangert, DF6JB (no longer available) and the HariFax
IV interface.
If you want to construct you own interface, you can get technical information on how JVComm32 manages the data transfer from and to the interface.
